Our History

March Bears has been the sole provider of Rugby in March since 1968, founded by a small community group from the old Hereward School. Most of the group who founded the club are still March residents and continue to support the club. The “Bears” name was taken from the crest for the Hereward School, on which the polar bear you see to the right represents the polar bear the Fenland hero Hereward the Wake overcame in single combat.

The club values the continued support from the club's "old boys". This takes many different guises. It can be active roles in our vets, walking rugby, or more sedate participation supporting the club through volunteering, match day support and event attendance. The club also appreciates any financial support that can be given which can take the form of VP memberships or lottery memberships. We are looking for team pictures and information on important milestones and achievements in the club’s history to help populate our website. Don't hesitate to get in touch with us with any information you feel should be included.
